Although one would like to think Email is an instant medium [and in fact in many cases it is], one cannot count on that because there can be issues on the sending side, on the receiving side, or somewhere in between in network routing. It is not realistic to count on email to be instantaneous 100% of the time.

In this case, it is your provider who you should pose the question to, although from the message that OO’s mailserver sent back, I would guess it could be a transient issue. It may have been them deferring additional emails from the QTH server because so many emails were being sent, in quick succession, from the mailing list to OO addresses. I cannot tell based upon the vague nature of the deferral message that was sent by the OO server. It could also be that OO is using greylisting, to defer mail temporarily as a spam abatement procedure.

If you look at the log below, you’ll see that your provider’s email system was sending back “421 4.7.1 Resources restricted – try again later – H5,3″ when our server attempted to send that email to you the first two times. Finally, the third time around your email provider accepted the email.

Please see the log below (in CST).
